Los rodamientos de contacto angular tienen pistas de rodadura del aro interior y exterior que se desplazan entre sí en la dirección del eje del rodamiento. Este diseño asimétrico permite a este tipo de rodamiento soportar cargas combinadas, o fuerzas radiales y axiales al mismo tiempo. Los rodamientos de contacto angular están disponibles en diseños abiertos y sellados y se utilizan, por ejemplo, en ventiladores, compresores y turbinas. Como ejemplos de rodamientos de contacto angular comúnmente utilizados son las series 7200 y 7300.
