The REP5M7 Fafnir is a rod end. Rod ends consist of a housing with integral shank and a spherical plain bearing. This plain bearing is composed of an inner and outer ring without rolling elements. The REP5M7 Fafnir has a spherical plain bearing with a steel-on-steel sliding contact. Both the outer and inner rings of this bearing are made of steel. Bearings with steel-on-steel sliding contacts are wear-resistant and have a high load carrying capacity. This bearing type requires regular maintenance. Proper lubrication is required to reduce friction and prevent fouling and corrosion.
